China’s leading electric vehicle maker BYD Co Ltd on Tuesday signed a contract for 500 electric dump trucks for construction companies in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, marking its largest sales order of its kind.
The model T10ZT is about 9.6 meters long and three meters high, with maximum grade ability of 50 percent and capacity of 10.6 square meters. These 31,000-kg trucks will be used to transport sand, soil and other construction waste. It is powered by lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 435 kWh, enabling the vehicle to run as long as 280 kilometers fully loaded– enough for a day’s delivery round in the city. The company states it could be fully charged in 90 minutes. It also proposing to install stationary charging applications or a container-like mobile charging box.
