In order to help domestic exporters effectively overcome the international market development difficulties caused by covid-19, and to help Chinese enterprises establish reliable business relations and cooperation with foreign buyers, the online matchmaking meeting of the 2020 Wuxing, Huzhou(Zhejiang) Export Online Fair (Central and Eastern Europe) was successfully held on May 28-29, 2020.
The matchmaking meeting organizer is Huzhou Municipal Wuxing District People’s Government,the co-organizers are Huzhou Municipal Wuxing District Bureau of Commerce and Central European Trade and Logistics Cooperation Zone (CECZ). With the support of Romania-Chinese House (Harghita County), Hungarian Chinese Chamber of Economy, Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Rasina Administrative District and Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. More than 60 people participated, 12 buyers from Central and Eastern Europe and 27 suppliers from China. The industries covered mechanical and electrical, textile, green products and other fields.
First of all, Mr. Zhou Jun, the director of Huzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce made the opening speech of the meeting. He said that with the global spread of COVID-19 and the obstruction of enterprises’ exhibitions, this new participation channel can advance cooperation and common development, thus building a better future together.
Mr. Pető Ernő, President of Hungarian Chinese Chamber of Economy and Mr. Sandor Rus, President of Romania-Chinese House (Harghita County) also made speeches at the opening ceremony.
Foreign trade losses caused by covid-19 can be minimized and compensated by switching to online platforms to create possibilities to provide services for businesses of the two countries to match business opportunities.
According to the cooperation needs of enterprises of both sides, the meeting was organized into groups in advance and a person speaking both Chinese and English was assigned to host each discussion. Both parties negotiated in English. If there were any problems in the negotiation, the host of the group solved it in time, and the enterprises of both parties exchanged their contact information for the subsequent negotiation to proceed smoothly. Since the beginning of this year, Foreign Merchants Association and CECZ has taken advantage of and actively explored innovative ways of online matchmaking to help domestic and foreign enterprises to find trade opportunities.
